Report

Report: Mesmerising, dazzling, breathtaking and sublime, are just four words you could not use to describe Paul's match against Bilal, it was workmanlike, a perfunctory exhibition of low end squash, however, sometimes you have to win 'ugly' and at 2 down it wasn't looking good, well played "long sox". The evening had started well with a solid performance from the skipper who wasted no time in dispatching is oppo 3-0, delivering the coup de grace with a sumptuous framed mishit, straight down the middle of the court, class, he never saw it coming.. Next up young Will J, aka Timmy Taylor, squash from the gods, "probably the most complete game of squash I have ever seen" said the spectator, but it was a clinical and thoughtful display, and proof that squash is fundamentally a simply game, hopefully a spring board for Will 2.0! Meanwhile, 'The Magician' was delivering a master class on how best to recover from a 40hr bender, who needs sleep and re-hydration when you have a golden arm, simply run your opponent ragged, like a marionette, this really was pills, thrills and the odd bellyache. Finally, 'hop along' Mulvey who put up a valiant yet ultimately futile display against a classy opponent, proving that two knees really are better than one, hard luck, though a very pleasing 4-1 result, and another win for the not so sloppy seconds! Finally, the chili, once again Chef de partie Ambrose serves up a sumptuous all court offering, simply superb, "the best chili I have eaten since I last ate here", said one, "ambrosial" said another, the bar has been set gentleman, reassuringly high as always. Lock, stock and two smoking bowl fulls! Bring it on...
