The Battle of the Champs, as Div II take on Div I in a Heavyweight Herts 'rumble in the Silver Leys jungle', and yes, to everyone's amazement, victory is secured by BS2. Whisper it, but could this be a Cinderella Story & the start of a title challenge? Probably not, but we will take the 'W'! A dazzling evening of racket artistry, players from all ages, sizes and standards, a veritable chocolate box of squash! Will 'Lion Heart' Johnson sets the tone with an exemplary performance combining guileless naivety, stunning retrieval and a bandana, followed by Big Al Ambrose who cuts through his foe like a knife through Wagyu sirloin. Paul 'Machine' Cousins then makes hay, scything his way around court and bundling his straw like opponent into a barn of bewilderment. Next up, Kris 'Big Mac' Davis, MOM, managing to overcome a wily, blocking, tripping, dragging and trailing, adversary to secure a well earned 3-2! Last on new signing Will B, who got 'blowern' over by the pressure of the evening and succumbs to a very proficient mid-order. No disgrace as he beat MD last year...just saying. Finally, the CCC, voted greatest ever in a recent "whats hot and whats not" poll, 10/10, "f#@king outstanding" - Gordon Ramsay "pukka coriander" - Jamie Oliver. Onwards and upwards. |
